What's a fun fact about yourself?

I have a 'tech curse', all the gadgets I use ALWAYS get out of hand. My current laptop gives me small electric shocks, the previous one got broken after 2 hours of use, my speaker takes 2 minutes to turn on... It's quite ironic for me to be a part of TECH & Media club!

What is your story leading up to the MBA?

As a child, I spent 8 years performing on stage as part of Moscow Musical Theatre for Young Actors, where we studied the basics of acting and performed musicals like Oliver Twist or Tom Sawyer every weekend. Even though I decided against choosing a career of actress, I have a strong passion for arts - and have kept this passion since. I went on to get an undergraduate degree in Economics and master in Finance from Moscow State University and started working in finance during the ultimate year of my undergrad. I worked as a saleswoman at Credit Suisse, Unicredit and then Credit Suisse again until I realised that I want to do something else in life. Thus, I decided to do an MBA programme at LBS :)


Why did you choose to come to LBS for your MBA?

I was very sure from the beginning that I want to be studying in London because of how big and impactful the London arts scene is. Music, filming, paintings - it's all in London. And once I decided on the city, the choice of the school was quite obvious. LBS seemed (and has proven) to be a well-established school that is driving the technology & media agenda forward. It puts community at the centre of everything, whether an international community of students or a close knit community of alumni. So without hesitation, I applied to LBS.

Why are you interested in technology ?

Technology as a whole (i.e. not only media) is creative. All the challenges, tasks, technologies used etc - they haven't been around for a long while. One has to think out of the box to get to the end result. And a creative mind like me appreciates not being restrained by the industry standards!

Describe your LBS MBA experience in 3 words

Challenging but fulfilling.


You were a member of the TMC ExCo in 2020-21, right? Can you share a few words about your experience on the ExCo last year?

The moment when we the very last Media week session was over and we had a call with the rest of the Media team. How happy we were!


What has been your most memorable experience from the LBS MBA so far?

Turkey trip! Media Week! Tattoo!

What are your summer 2021 plans?

I am doing 2 internships:

1. Partnerships at Blippar, an Augmented Reality start-up: my job is to talk marketing agencies into becoming our long-term partners.

2. Business Development at International Intrigue, a geopolitical newsletter start-up: my job is to develop a partnership and monetization strategy.

What are your post-MBA goals/plans (in terms of career, life/living etc.)?

I am excited to further establish what subsections within media (music, streaming, AR/VR etc) are of foremost interest for me and break into these!


What's your motto/mindset going into the final year of your MBA?

Your efforts will be rewarded, even if in an unexpected way.


What do you hope to achieve through TMC specifically this year?

I personally would like to be known as an expert in media (how does "Lidia & Media" sound?) so that whenever a job opportunity/project/query in media arises, I will be the first to come to mind!


Finally, what, if any, advice do you have for incoming LBS students?

Don't be afraid to follow your passions. I believe the London and European job markets are big enough to find even the weirdest or rarest of jobs!
